Puppy Love

Josh and I have wanted a dog ever since we were first married, but we weren't allowed to have pets at our apartment in Logan. I think it was about January when we started looking at different dog breeds and looking into getting one as soon as we could. And then came a pregnant Joni and so we knew we had to wait...or so we thought.

We found out about this family who breeds Boston Terriers through Josh's friend and decided to call the lady and see when the next liter would be ready to go. Well, she had one pup left that was 8 weeks old and ready to go so we jumped on it and went and saw the pup and fell instantly in love. We knew it would be a lot of work training the pup and then just a few short months later bring a newborn into the home so we were undecided but told the breeder we would let her know before the evening.

--SIDENOTE--I'll admit that we aren't the best at planning FAR in advance and being patient for big events to come...[remember] we met, dated, and were married within 10 months!! So with that said I am sure you can guess that Josh came home that evening with the pup in his arms and all. I was totally shocked because on the phone just an hour before we had discussed the possibility of waiting to get a dog when our baby was a few years old. Overall, I am happy we chose to get a dog right now. He is teaching me responsibility and preparing me to wake up in the night and early in the morning to take care of his potty needs. We named him Ozzie (after Ozzie Smith, the famous Cardinals baseball player).

Meet Ozzie-- isn't he sweet?

So far, he loves chewing toys and tearing them apart (he is teething), cuddling and napping several times a day, and chasing you around the house. Oh and the craziest thing- his toenails are all white except two toenails on his back paws are black!! We love him except for today because he has peed 4 times in the house....angry owners!!! I love when he naps on me

Gender Reveal????

--July 1, 2013--
Today was such an exciting day that Josh and I have been looking forward to since we found out we were pregnant!! It was our ultrasound/sonogram/ gender reveal day. It's so crazy to think that we have been imagining this sweet baby growing inside of me but not being able to for sure know if it was a girl or boy. All along Josh and I both thought for sure it was a girl, along with many of our family members. The "Chinese Gender Calendar" even told us so, ha! It seems like all of growing up and especially lately I have been surrounded by so many girls so why not add another one?

The ultrasound went well and the tech was able to identify all of the major body parts forming and growing. Although, the baby decided that it didn't want to cooperate and so he/she would squirm all over the place not giving enough time for the tech to get very clear pictures! Looks like we have a mover baby, always on the go....sounds just his/her mother!! Anyways, we asked the tech to keep the gender a secret and write what it was on paper and seal it in an envelope. After the appointment we stopped at Gymboree and picked out 2 outfits, a boy and a girl one. Then, we gave the cashier the outfits and had her open the envelope to see if it was a boy or girl and then place the correct outfit in a box while we looked away. After we swiped the card, we hurried back home as fast as we could so we could find out the gender already. Josh videoed our reaction while I opened the box. As I took off the lid I examined the tissue paper to see if the color showing through it was blue or pink. It looked pink, but once I opened the paper, it was clearly blue which meant we were having a boy!!! We were both so shocked that is wasn't a girl but so happy to be confirmed that indeed it was a boy.

After the gender reveal we skped/called/texted our family and friends to share the news. It was fun to listen to what everyone's guess was and then to show them the outfit we picked out to reveal the answer. I know that our little boy is going to have a tender heart and  a love for sports, just like his daddy!

Henry's Lake

--June 23-27--
Back when I was just a youngster, the Geary's had a tradition of spending a few days at Henry's Lake every summer where we would stay in cabins, fish, visit Yellowstone, and spend time with our cousins. After grandpa passed away we stopped doing it. This year my aunt was so great to plan and coordinate a trip for us to go there and reminisce just like old times.
I had such a wonderful time being around my cousins and their kids and spending more time with my dad. We had the chance to visit Yellowstone and watch Old Faithful, visit the towns of Virginia and Nevada City, and catch some fish! Although I missed Josh like crazy, this time was harder leaving my family because I knew it would be a few months before I would be seeing them again, but I'm grateful for the short amount of time I had with them.

Bear World-- don't worry we had to stay in the vehicle at all times

Not zoomed in at all--
This bear got a little too friendly and came to the drivers side door and tried to bite the door handle off!

our cabin was @ Wild Rose Ranch
